Jim Earley, Ph.D.

Jim’s Port Huron High School varsity boys’ basketball teams earned two MAC Red titles in 1994 and 1995, two district titles in 1993 and 1994, and participated in two regional finals. His varsity coaching record was 71-22. During his coaching career, Jim was awarded one county and five regional coach of the year awards in basketball, as well as one county coach of the year award in varsity tennis. Jim accumulated over 300 nonvarsity boys’ basketball wins as documented by MHSAA. He was also the 1990 recipient of the Blue Water Area Robinson Award.

Jim’s career path included thirty-five years in public education within five school districts. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ferris State University majoring in Chemistry. His education continued with a Master of Arts degree in School Administration from Northern Arizona University, an Education Specialist degree in School Administration from Oakland University, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University.

Following a teaching career in Michigan and Arizona, Jim was honored with two area high school principalships and a ten-year opportunity to serve as an assistant superintendent of schools.

Jim is the proud parent of Amy Earley Caryl and Matt Earley. He and his significant other Janet Lane Barrett enjoy splitting their time between Port Huron and Naples, Florida. As the journey continues, Jim has rekindled his interest in golf and recently became a published author.
