Winfield L. Cooper

Winfield L. “Win” Cooper, one of the top sailors of the Port Huron Yacht Club over the past 60 plus years, has been extremely successful in his racing career locally and around the world.

He has sailed over 30 Port Huron to Mackinac races, winning his Class an amazing twelve (12) times, and in 2014 he took 1st place in his Division on corrected time. He has sailed the Chicago to Mackinac race, and has raced in Florida, the Bahamas, the Pacific Ocean, California, Hawaii, Mexico, and Australia.

Win is a member of the Port Huron Yacht Club; Coral Reef Yacht Club, Miami, Florida; and a Past Commodore of the Mackinac Island Yacht Club. He has also served as a Certified Judge and Certified Principal Race Officer for the Port Huron Yacht Club and various other Clubs in the Miami area.

He has trained many young men and women to sail and, after “graduating” they were in high demand as crew. They were known as “Cooper’s Crew” because they were the best!
