Charles H. Langford
Year Inducted: 2005
Chuck Langford starred in athletics at Port Huron High School for four years and won eleven letters. In 1922 he lettered in track, basketball and baseball. In 1923-1925 he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.
From newspaper clippings of that era, it appears that he starred in every game in which he appeared, his name appearing in headlines of title lines of almost every article. In four years as a basketball player, he was called for only eight fouls. In games where the winning team would score about 20 points, he would score ten or eleven of them.
He was dubbed the "Wonder Athlete" and the Times Herald published a song that was written about him.
As a baseball pitcher during his last two years, he lost only one game – on an unearned run in the championship game.
