Frank Moeller

In 1951 and 1952 the Port Huron High School Big Reds football went undefeated. Frank Moeller was a fine all around athlete and was one of only four players who lettered on both of those teams. A six foot, 170 pound running back, he averaged 6.2 yards per carry as a junior and a senior, 7.7 with 703 total yards and eleven touchdowns.

In basketball he set a single game record for most field goals and points (27). Other records include highest points in a season (274) and third highest for three seasons (428). At that time high school consisted of three years – ninth grade was still junior high school. Frank averaged 17.1 points per game in his senior year. As co-captain, he won the Rotary Award given for outstanding achievement on and off the court.

After high school, he entered the military and starred for an Air Force fast-pitch team in Alaska. He later coached youth football and baseball for many years in Illinois.
