Brian Beckham

Brian Beckham moved to Port Huron at the age of 13. He played football, basketball and ran track at Fort Gratiot Middle School and Port Huron Northern High School. While at Northern from 1990 to 1994, Brian was a 3-time letter winner in each football, basketball and track. In track, Brian was awarded All-Area his sophomore year, All-Area and All-Conference his junior year, along with posting a state top 10 time in the 110 hurdles. While playing basketball, Brian was All-Area and All-Conference his senior year. His sophomore year, he was a member of the PHN’s state quarter final basketball team that lost to eventual state champion Detroit Pershing. Playing football was Brian’s true passion, and where he shined the brightest. His junior year was cut short due to injury, but he bounced back his senior year he when he was awarded with All-Area, All-Conference, All Metro and All-State honors.

After high school in the fall of 1994, Brian moved on to play football at Grand Valley State University on scholarship under the direction of Coach Brian Kelly. During his time there, Brian was a 4-year starter joining up with fellow Northern alumni Ryan Porte for his freshman year. Over his career, Brian led the team twice in interceptions and his senior year was named All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-American. One of the highlights of Brian’s football career was to be invited to play in the 1997 Division II National All-Star Game in Fargo, North Dakota following his senior season.

Brian now resides in Hudsonville, MI with his wife of 22 years Sarah, and their two sons Sam and CJ. Sam is currently playing baseball at Trine University while majoring in Mechanical Engineering and CJ is playing 3 sports at Hudsonville High School. Over the past 30 years, Brian has coached football, baseball and basketball for his sons’ teams as well as football at the high school level.
