James Robert "Bob" Hayes

Coach Hayes’ Port Huron High football team won 28 straight games from 1950 to 1953 and earned Eastern Michigan League championships in 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1957.

Bob was head football coach of the Big Reds from 1948 to 1964, compiling a 71-61-7 record.  He became the first Athletic Director of the new Port Huron Northern High School in 1965.  He resigned in 1972 to become manager of Hidden Valley Golf and Ski Club in Gaylord for nine years.  He then managed the Seagate Hotel and Beach Club in Delray, Florida, before returning to manage Black River Country Club in Port Huron in 1982.  Bob has also been inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame and the University of Toledo Sports Hall of Fame.
