Katherine "Katie" Pettibone

Katie sailed extensively in local events as a youngster, developing skills she would later use. She is a graduate of Port Huron Northern High School, the University of Miami (Florida) and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

In 1995 she was selected out of nearly 700 applicants to be one of a 28 member crew of America 3, the fist all-female crew in the 144 year history of the America’s Cup. During 1997 and 1998 Katie competed for Team EF Education in the 3200 nautical mile Whitbread Around the World Race, a 10 month race. She was a crew member aboard America True her 2nd America’s Cup in Aukland, New Zealand in 2000. She again competed as a crew member aboard Amer Sports Too in the Volvo Around the World race (successor to the Whitbread). She is currently training for her third America’s Cup which will be held off Valencia, Spain in 2007 and will compete to make the 2008 United States Olympic Sailing Team. She has competed in the Worrell 1000 and Gulf Stream Challenge, several Port Huron to Mackinac and Chicago to Mackinac races, the Brut Cup Faberge’ Series in France and the Coppa dei Campioni D’ Allura in Italy. Katie Pettibone is a world renowned professional sailor!
