Little Caesars Softball Team

Year Inducted: 1992

The Little Caesars Port Huron softball team from 1982 through 1991 compiled an unusually impressive record, winning the Michigan State Tournament in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988 and 1990.  The team competed at the national several years, finishing fourth in 1990 at the national tournament in Spokane, Washington.  They were the Pop Cocco champions in Port Huron four consecutive years, and from 1984 through 1990, they compiled a record of 343 wins and 94 losses for a .785 average.

The 1990 line-up consisted of:  Tom Manis, right field;  Tim Smith, designated hitter;  Steve Stocker, first base;  Rod Arquette, catcher;  Al Anthony, third base;  Pat Hunt, center field;  Ted Curtiss, left field;  Bill Bowman, shortstop;  Randy Curtiss, second base;  Curtis Richards, pitcher;  and Steve Anderson, pitcher.

Local fans will long remember the power hitting of Steve Stocker, Rod Arquette, Al Anthony, Doug Fowler and John Capadagli, the speed of Tom Manis, Bill Bowman and Randy Allen and the defensive brilliance of Pat Hunt.  Sponsor Al Shady was the best – he let the ball players play their game and yet he was exceptionally supportative both financially and otherwise.  Al Shady attended the games, both locally and at tournaments.  Managers:  Jim Czarnecki, Bob Hayman, Charlie Cook, Jim Hewitt, Mike Hayman and Jim Ladensack were all effective, utilizing their own styles and personalities.

HAIL CAESARS!!
