Mary Mactaggart Boike- Tennis

Year Inducted: 2002

Known by all locally who followed tennis in the 1970's and 80's. At Port Huron Northern High School, Mary played on the boys team in her sophomore (#2 Singles, 22-2) and junior (#1 Singles, 20-6) years. Her senior year, she played on the girls team at #1 singles and lost only her last match as she was runner-up in Class A Singles at the Michigan High School Tennis Tournament. Mary went on to the University of Michigan where she was named to All Big-10 Teams three times in singles and twice in doubles. She was captain of the team for two seasons. In amateur play, she won the Michigan State Closed Tournament and the Western Closed Tournament (five states). In 1984 Mary was named Michigan's Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year.
