Robert "Bob" Allen

Year Inducted: 2011

Born in Port Huron, Bob attended Fort Gratiot Middle School and St. Stephens High School.  A member of the last graduating class, Bob helped the basketball team to an unbeaten regular season and a spot in the Class D Regional Finals where they lost to the eventual state champion.

Bob was awarded a scholarship to Marshall University, where he started for two plus years and twice earned all Mid-American Conference honors.   He averaged a MAC leading 14.2 rebounds per game as a senior.   The Thundering Herd twice played in the National Invitational Tournament including a fourth in the 1966-67 season.   Bob still ranks fourth in career rebounds at Marshall University.  In 2003, Bob was inducted into the Marshall University Athletics Hall of Fame.  Bob was selected as one of the 50 all-time best athletes of St. Clair County by the Port Huron Times Herald.

In 1968 Bob was drafted by the San Francisco Warriors of the National Basketball Association where he played for one season.   The following year, the Baltimore Bullets tried to sign him but Bob declined and instead accepted a job with Ashland, Inc. in Kentucky where he worked for 36 years.

Bob and his wife Dawn now reside in Kentucky and have two adult children Rob and Julie.
