Stephen R. Bankson

Steve played football, basketball and ran track at Port Huron High and graduated in 1959.

Upon graduation from Graceland University (BA) and Indiana University (MS), he became an outstanding basketball coach. He coached at Richland Twn. High School in Newtown, Indiana, Port Huron High, Lorain County Community College, Elyria, Ohio and Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, totaling 41 years as a head basketball coach. During the time he was at the two colleges, he was the Athletic Director for 35 years.

Steve's teams won 646 games. He holds the record for most wins at Lorain (209) and at Baldwin-Wallace (356). He had five teams appear in the NCAA National Tournament and was selected Conference Coach of the Year four times. His teams won 13 conference championships and had seven 20 win seasons.
